CHOICES is a counselling service for youth who are: wondering about their own use of alcohol or other drugs worried about someone else's problems with alcohol or other drugs
What do we do? listen help you find out how alcohol and other drugs affect your life help you find other solutions or other things to do
respect your right to make your own decisions and set your own goals help you talk to your parents
Are parents/families involved? they can be and it often helps
How does it work? one-to-one counselling groups offered from time to time male and female counsellors appointment times to fit your schedule services available to youth under the age of 20 and their parents outreach to high schools throughout Grey and Bruce counties Is there a cost? we are funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services. There is no charge for our services Will anyone find out you're seeing a counsellor? before we start...any requirements to share information are explained to you confidential counselling What else do we do? offer counselling for parents provide information in our office or over the telephone give talks in the community keep a library of books and tapes that you can borrow Information and Support Groups for Parents There are some local groups that you might want to participate in if you are looking for information and/or support as you deal with challenges presented to parents of adolescents and teens.There is a Monthly Parent Information/Support Night and you can find out dates and location by calling the CHOICES office.
