Notice to Current & Former Employees of GBCHC Enrolled in LTD Plan

In 1997 a decision was made to demutualize the Mutual Life Assurance Company.The parties who were impacted by that decision (OHA and unions) have finally come to an agreement about how the proceeds from the demutualization should be distributed and the agreement has now been approved by the Ontario Superior Court. The proceeds are to be distributed as follows: A portion of the funds will be used to provide an LTD premium holiday for the corporation and for current employees who were enrolled in the plan on December 29 1997. Former employees who were enrolled in the plan on December 29 1997 but are ineligible to share in the proceeds (because they are no longer employed by the corporation) may make a claim for payment. These former employees must provide the appropriate proof of employment and participation in the LTD plan by September 3rd.
